WHY TEXT GIVING?

The reality of our digital world is such that few people today carry cash or checks. Giving by text is a service provided to make giving simple, secure and convenient, reducing any barriers to giving as the Lord leads. 

HOW CAN I MAKE A DONATION FROM MY SMARTPHONE?

1. Register your phone for text giving by sending a text message with the word OAKS to the number 45777 (you will not be charged anything unless you complete step 2).

2. Follow the directions texted back to you and complete the one time checkout form.

3. From then on, you can give at any time simply by sending a text message with the amount and OAKS  to the number 45777. (example: 100 OAKS to 45777)

4. To set up scheduled giving or change your credit card information, text the word EDIT to 45777.

 

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is text giving secure?

Yes. All sensitive financial information is stored with bank level security. All information is encrypted and stored by our banking partner to Level 1 PCI compliant standards. Level 1 PCI compliance is a set of rules stated by credit card companies and audited by an independent third party. Level 1 PCI is the highest possible rating. Additionally, all transmission to our banking partner and on our site is via encrypted HTTPS connection.

Is my personal information sent in a text message?

We never send any personal or financial information via text message. We simply facilitate the donations. Your personal and financial information is always encrypted and stored securely.

What if I accidentally type the wrong amount?

When you make a donation, you will receive a text confirmation that re-states the amount given. If you made a mistake in typing you can respond with the word “refund” within the first 30 minutes and your credit card or debit card will not be charged. After 30 minutes you can contact The Oaks to facilitate a refund.

How will I know when my debit/credit card is charged?

Anytime your card is charged you will receive both an email and a text message confirmation from Kindrid.

Does it cost me anything?

There is no charge for you to make a donation. Standard text messaging and data rates apply just like every time you send a text message or use the internet on your phone.

How long does it take for The Oaks to receive my donation?

When you make a donation, we immediately provide the information about that donation to The Oaks. We also send that donation as a deposit into their bank account that evening. That means it usually takes about 2-3 days between when you make a donation and when it is in the organization’s bank account. This is equivalent or faster than other forms of online giving.

Will this be charged to my phone bill?

No! Older text giving systems charged donations to your phone bill and were limited to $10. This system does not go on your phone bill and you can give any amount.

What is the phone number I text and whose is it?

The phone number you are texting is a secure number that belongs to The Oaks. It is used exclusively for this purpose.

How will my phone number be used?

Your phone number is used only to make donating as easy as possible. It will never be sold, traded or given out. You will only be texted to confirm your donation and for no other reason.

How do I “un-link” my smartphone for mobile giving?
